Broken bones are painful and inconvenient. If you have broken one of your bones, chances are you want to see it heal as quickly and effectively as possible, and here are a few things that may help you with that…

Try to relax

The brain and the body are inextricably linked, so if you want your bones to heal faster, you need to do what you can to relax, which isn’t always easy when you’re worried about how you’re going to work and things like that. One thing that can help is meditation, which will help you to stop ruminating and put things into perspective. Another is seeing what you can do to make life easy while you can’t work, whether that means contacting a personal injury law firm or seeing what insurance and benefits you may be entitled to. Take it easy.

Up your protein intake

Bones are made up, to a large extent, of protein, so it makes sense that consuming more protein would help your bones to heal faster and boostbyour health. If you can’t manage an extra portion of protein, try a supplement because if you don’t get enough, you could develop rubbery callouses around the broken bone, which is far from ideal.

Increase your antioxidant intake

Antioxidants prevent free radicals from further damaging tissues, which means they could help your bones to heal more effectively. Lycopene and vitamins E and C are particularly good for this, so look for supplements that contain all three.

Get your minerals

Bones are largely minerals, so you need to be getting enough magnesium, calcium, zinc, silicon, and phosphorus in your diet as you heal from a fracture. Again, taking these in the form of a supplement is probably the easiest way to ensure you are getting what you need.

Take Arnica

When it comes to herbal remedies, many people find that arnica is a useful herb for encouraging healing in broken bones, whereas other people swear by horsetail grass. Although these are usually safe to consume in small amounts it’s always worth checking with your doctor first especially if you are taking other medications.

Move more

Many people think that exercise is a bad idea when they have a fracture, especially if it’s in the leg., but actually, you need to move if you want to speed up the healing of your bones. The key is to exercise as and when directed by your doctor or physio because exercising in the wrong way or doing too much too soon could actually be detrimental.

Give up smoking

If you smoke, the best thing you can do to help your bone heal faster is to give up. I know this is hard, but the chemicals in smoking can prevent bones from healing quickly and effectively, which means healing can be a slow process. Seek help, stop smoking, and take better care of your bones.

It is possible to help your broken bones heal faster, but you need to listen to the doctor, take it easy )but not too easy) and get serious about your nutrition if you want to do so!
