Having a child is one of the most amazing things you’ll ever do. As soon as they’re born, you’ll never feel a love like it. As they grow that love will only get stronger, and there’s going to be certain milestones that they’ll reach throughout their life that will just make things so much more special for you. As they get older, you’ll also be able to celebrate these milestones more than you would have when they were younger, this article is here to point some of them out, and how you can make them extra special.

First Proper Birthday

When they’re growing up, every birthday will be special to you. But they aren’t going to remember them, even if you are. The proper birthday we’re talking about is the one where they can start inviting all their friends from school. You’ll be able to sit with them and help the write their invitations to all their friends, and just the general joy they’ll be feeling will make it so much better for you. A location for birthday parties is essential, you need to make sure you have the perfect one for you child. Some will prefer the classic play center party, whilst some might even prefer the comfort of their own home. Whatever they choose, make sure you make it as special as possible for them. A big cake is always necessary.

Driving

This is going to be a scary time for you both. When they first get behind the wheel they’re having that first taste of freedom. Unfortunately for a lot of kids, it’s a long time before they actually are able to drive their own car as money gets in the way. So, if you want to help them truly reach freedom, you could start saving up for a little while before they actually pass their test. The money you give them will help them so much when it comes to buying a car, they’ll also be forever grateful. As scary as it might be, life will definitely become a lot easier for the both of you when you’re not the taxi they need anymore.

Flying The Nest

Definitely going to be the saddest milestone you’ll ever reach. Fortunately for you, it does take some kids a hell of a long time to get there. But as sad as it might be, it gives you time to reflect on the life you’ve all had together, and you know that you’ve raised them well enough to become independent and move out. The house might be a lot quieter, but they’ll definitely still come around for you to cook them a good meal every now and then.

If you want to make it as special as possible, help them with the move as much as you can. We all know how stressful moving house can be, it’ll be no different for them! Cherish your last moments with a full house, and give them a parting gift of something cute like a family photo framed.
