how to make your dreams come true

Most people think that the idea of making your dreams come true is much easier said than done… and they’d be right. However, just because that’s a fact, it doesn’t mean that making your dreams come true is impossible – it just means that you need to plan for it and think about it a lot more to ensure it actually happens. Yes, it’s difficult, but where’s the fun and feeling of accomplishment if it’s easy? So with that in mind, here are some things you’ll need to do and put in place if you want to make your dreams come true.

Start By Being Clear About What You Want

It sounds obvious, but a lot of people never really stop to think about what they actually want. We’re not talking about what seems sensible, or what other people expect either; we’re talking about the things they’d choose if everything felt possible.

So that’s where you need to start. Don’t worry about logistics or how possible something might be right now, but just make a list of the things, or even just one thing, you really want to achieve in life. Once you’ve got that idea in mind, even if it’s still a bit vague, you’ll find it’s a lot easier to make decisions that help you move towards it, no matter how slow that movement might be.

Accept That It Won’t Be Immediate

One of the hardest parts of working towards making your dreams come true is realising that things take time. The fact is, you can do everything right, and still feel like nothing’s happening for ages, and the problem is that the gap between the effort you have to put in and the result can be where people tend to give up – they’re just not feeling like they’re getting anywhere, so they give up on reaching their ultimate dreams.

But what you might not realise is that progress is going to be happening, even if you can’t see it. Every step you take forwards, every decision you make, every sacrifice you make, it’s all pushing you on, and even if it’s barely any movement at all, it’s still something. You’ll be building skills, your confidence will be growing, and you’ll start to see opportunities, even if it’s not obvious right away.

Break It Down Into Smaller Steps

Big goals can feel completely overwhelming, especially if you look at them all at once, and that’s why breaking them down into smaller, more easily manageable steps makes them a lot easier to get behind and work towards.

In other words, instead of thinking about the end result, you can just focus on what you need to do next, and nothing else. Keep doing that, and before long you’ll be on the final step and then you’ll have achieved your dream.

Be Willing To Adjust

Things don’t always go exactly as planned, and you might change your mind, discover something new, or not reach one particular step so you need to look at new ways of getting where you want to go, for example. That’s really just part of the process, and it’s not a sign you’ve failed, even if it can often feel exactly like that.

To get past this bump in the road, it’s good to be flexible – that’s what’s going to help you move forward rather than getting stuck because you’re still trying to follow a path that isn’t actually taking you where you want to go anymore.

Think About The Support You Need

You don’t have to do everything on your own, and there’s plenty of support for you if you look for it, and it can come in all different ways and means and from all kinds of places. And it can look different too – the support you need could be financial, it could be emotional, it could be practical help or advice and so much more.

For some goals, especially the ones linked to education or career changes, financial support might need to be part of the picture, and looking into options like graduate student loans can make some opportunities more accessible to you, and you’ll be able to focus on the bigger goal rather than being held back and feeling like you’ve reached a dead end.

Stay Consistent, Even When It Feels Slow

When you do something regularly, even if (and perhaps especially if) it’s just a small thing, that can count for a lot more than doing a lot all at once and then not doing it again, or at least not doing it again for a while.

The point is, slow and steady definitely wins the race, and although you can certainly try to race through everything and try to do as much as you can in as little time as possible, all that’s really going to do is leave you exhausted and stressed, and you might even lose your motivation and stop reaching for your goals altogether. However, moving forward a tiny bit on a regular basis means that even if it takes more time, you’ll get where you’re going in the end.

Notice How Far You’ve Come

It’s always going to be easier to focus on what’s still ahead of you, especially if there’s a lot still to do, but the fact is that if you do that, you’re going to forget about what you’ve already done.

That’s why taking the time to notice your progress, no matter how small it happens to be, is what’s going to keep you happy and motivated, and show you that you’re on the right path towards making your dreams come true.

Forget About Perfection

Waiting for the right moment, or trying to do everything perfectly, can actually slow things down massively, even if it seems like it’s the right thing to do.

In reality, starting before you actually feel ready is what most people do because they know that if they kept waiting, they’d never get started at all. Yes, you’ll have to work things out as you go along, and you might make some mistakes, but you’ll be on your way, and that’s what’s really going to count – you’re not going to make your dreams come true otherwise.
