Living in an HOA neighborhood can sound nice on paper, and yeah, sometimes it actually is. The streets look tidy, the common areas stay neat, and there’s usually less risk of somebody parking a broken-down mystery vehicle on the lawn. It doesn’t take much to fix up the neighborhood and make it feel welcoming, and there’s plenty of other things to love, too (like communal pools and playgrounds for kids).

But of course, that polished look doesn’t just happen by magic; chances are, you know what’s coming next. So basically, HOA living usually comes with rules, expectations, and the kind of nitpicky attention that can make a perfectly normal person roll their eyes. It’s awful to say here, but it’s true; it can get really bad.

Most people don’t get HOA notices because they’ve completely given up on the house. It’s usually super small, like life gets busy, work drags on, weekends disappear, energy drops, and before long, the outside of the house starts looking a little less “well-kept” and a little more “yeah, that’ll get done next week.”  And since things stop looking picture-perfect, the HOA starts fining (and it’s usually just a baby boomer with a power trip handing out these fines, too).

So, if life is a little too busy, maybe it’s time to outsource some projects, but what?

Lawn Care Usually Needs to be the First Thing to Go

If there’s one thing HOAs seem to notice at lightning speed, it’s the lawn. Like grass gets a little too long, edging starts looking rough, a few patches go wild, and apparently, that’s enough for some neighbourhood board members to start handing out fines. Like it or not, but if you’re just too busy to take care of all of this, then you need to hire a landscaper. Sometimes there might even be a designated landscaper or professional who works with the HOA, so you can always talk to someone about that, too.

Bed Maintenance Gets Neglected Fast

Especially in the summer, just like grass, all you need is one good day of rain, and the next day be hot and sunny all day long, and you can guarantee the growth of weeds. Well, that and mulch fades pretty fast in the summer, and everything begins to look a little tired and patchy. And of course, that’s exactly the kind of thing HOAs love to notice. Again, it just takes a few days for all of this to happen.

That’s why mulching services & bed care can actually be a good idea to consider. Think about it, hypothetically, you want to take a vacation in the summer with your family, well, your beds will keep growing. You can still get fined. But if you hire a service to take care of your beds, it’s going to be way cheaper than all those fines from the HOA (and you don’t have to worry about pulling weeds all summer long, too).

Pressure Washing Fixes that Dingy Look Fast

Sometimes a house doesn’t look messy; it just starts looking kind of grimy, and yeah, that absolutely counts. No, really, there’s siding, driveways, front paths, fences, and porches that can all start looking dull and dirty over time, which is annoying because it creeps up slowly and then all at once the place looks like it needs rescuing (especially if it’s rained for a few days). So it could help to look into a pressure washing service, maybe a couple of times a year, for that fresh look.
