Tomorrow is April Fool’s Day and that officially means the idea of finally having Spring is no joke! It also means that summer is finally on it’s way. We’re celebrating the warmer weather with a special treat – Salted Caramel Espresso Hood Frozen Yogurt #hoodfroyo My kids really, really love this stuff! I’m indulging in a mini spoonful at a time because while I’m not personally eating sugar in general, I can’t pass this stuff up entirely! It’s like creamy, delicious golden heaven frozen then scooped into a soon-to-be empty bowl. It’s literally just… that… good!
If there was one internet meme that could sum up my kids in a sentence or two when I come home from the grocery store without Hood Frozen Yogurt, this could be it …
Hood Frozen Yogurt
As someone that has lived in New England my entire life I’m very familiar with the Hood brand and it has become a brand I trust for myself and my entire family. You know you are getting great quality, delicious froyo: Hood has been in the ice cream business for over 100 years – true experts at what they do! I’m really excited that they have Hood Frozen Yogurt in my grocer’s freezer because I find it to be a little healthier than full fat ice cream for my kiddos. They have no idea it’s healthier, they just love how it tastes!
Another benefit of Hood Frozen Yogurt is that it contains live and active cultures and they offer low fat and fat free options.
Live Active Cultures
So, why do we want live active cultures in our food, anyway? According to AbooutYogurt.com,
Researchers around the world are studying the potential attributes of live and active culture yogurt in preventing gastrointestinal infections, boosting the body’s immune system, fighting certain types of cancer and preventing osteoporosis. More research must be done to establish a definitive link between live and active culture yogurt and these health effects, but the results to date are encouraging.
Additionally, the live and active cultures found in yogurt break down lactose in milk. This allows lactose intolerant individuals who commonly experience gastrointestinal discomfort when they consume milk products to eat yogurt and receive the nutrients contained in the milk product without the side effects of abdominal cramping, bloating and diarrhea.
So live, active cultures = good for you! But, let’s be honest – that’s a great perk but how about taste? Best of all, there are 15 flavors! Check out the deliciousness here!
Why My Family Loves Hood Frozen Yogurt:

Active cultures in a dessert? This is a great thing! Thanks for the heads up that live cultures can be in frozen yogurt too.
I say that qualifies as an excuse to eat dessert, right?! Thanks for stopping by Laura!
