I’ve decided to add a little inspiration to my blogging and have committed to Capturing my 365 with a photo every day along with whatever words come along with that photo. Today’s photo prompt is Repetition.

I’ve come to realize that I’m pretty routine even when I never really meant to be. I guess I’m predictable. But, every once in a while, something changes, a mistake is made or something unexpected but beautiful happens along the way.

Today’s photo is of my old steam radiator in my home office. It not only keeps me warm, it really is beautiful when you take a moment to look at the details, the pattern, the intricate designs crafted long ago. It’s not your average baseboard heat, plain white box around the room. It has character, even if each rib is the same. It also has flaws. This radiator is much like me.

You’ll notice a couple of thing about this radiator. One, it bears the flaws of paint dripped during my office makeover. It was a mistake. But how you look at it really is what gives it its character and opportunity to shine.

The color of the paint is pretty, one of my favorite colors. It’s symbolic of the labor I put into this room. Truly nothing is perfect and I’m ok with that. I’m not perfect nor do I strive to be perfect. It’s just not my character or who it what I will ever need to be. I’m me, I’m flawed and I’m ok with that!

The other thing that you will notice about my radiator is that, in all of its beauty and with all of the warmth it gives off it has caused damage to the old plaster walls that surround it. You’ll see cracks in the plaster thanks to decades of steam heat in that corner of the room. With all of the positives, there’s bound to be a negative. Take them as they come, work around them, accept them. Otherwise, those negatives will overpower the positives. That really isn’t necessary. I try to be the “my glass is half full” kind of person that I want others, especially my children to be.
