I’m getting so excited about our upcoming getaway to Freeport, Maine next week! The hubs has to work so my mom is joining the three kiddos and I! We’ve got an excellent adventure planned! I’d like to thank Kelly at Freeport USA for helping us find some great things to do while we are there! I’ll be sharing our experience here, on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram while we are there and writing some review upon my return.

There are so many great choices! Here’s what’s on our agenda so far –

There is so much fun to be had at Wolfe’s Neck Farm! I’m absolutely ecstatic for our visit! Whether you want to learn about sustainable agriculture, hike, kayak or just visit with the animals you are in for a treat! Plus, they are open to the public every day from dawn to dusk for free!

Wolfe’s Neck Farm is a nonprofit organization in Freeport, Maine dedicated to promoting sustainable agriculture, education, and outdoor recreation while preserving its 626 acres of open space and historic buildings. This working saltwater farm includes hundreds of acres of forest, saltwater marsh, pasture lands, over four miles of Casco Bay coastline and an award-winning oceanfront campground. Wolfe’s Neck Farm’s educational programs include a summer day camp, sustainable living classes, field trips, Farm School and its Teen Ag Program. It hosts annual barn dances and farm festivals as well as growing vegetables and pasture-raising chickens, turkeys and lamb for the local community. Open free to the public year-round, the Farm encourages visitors to explore its miles of hiking trails, meet the animals in the barn, explore the organic gardens and enjoy the open space.

The Desert of Maine (Really!)

When we first get into town we’re heading to the Desert of Maine. Yes, a real desert in Maine! Check it out!

While we’re there we’ll be taking a 30 minute educational Glacier Desert Tour Ride, visiting the Butterfly Room, playing some Disc Golf, checking out the 1783 Barn Museum and of course spending lots of time in the desert

The Atlantic Seal Cruise

And, last but not least is the Atlantic Seal Cruise! We’ll be joining them for the Eagle Island Adventure which sails out 6 days a week! I’m especially looking forward to visiting the fascinating museum home of Admiral Peary, the first man to reach the North Pole!

If you are planning on making the trip they recommend that you bring your hiking shoes and explore the woodsy island trails, beachcomb the shoreline and watch for seals at Casco Bay’s seal resting areas. I know we will be!  Call (207) 865-6112 to book your trip, or visit http://www.atlanticsealcruises.com/ to find more cruises!
