Now that we nearing the end of January, it can be a good time to check in on those new year goals and resolutions. With a few weeks under your belt, have you been able to do make a start with the things that you want to?

One of the resolutions that many people have is to exercise more. So has that been a goal for you? If so, how is it going? If it has been a little less than stellar, then here are some essentials that you need in your gym bag to help you along the way. Perhaps they could be the boost that you need to help you get to the gym more and make working out easier?

Headphones

Every gym-goer needs a good pair of headphones, am I right? It can help with motivation, as well as a way to drown out the sounds of people working out around you. But these days the selection is huge. How about a pair of wireless or Bluetooth headphones so that you can hide away your phone in your pocket? Then it won’t get in the way of your workout.

Reusable Water Bottle

All gyms are going to have a refilling water station where you can fill up a water bottle again and again. But something that will be better for you and for the environment is a reusable water bottle. Look for the metal versions as they can keep the water cool in there, which is what you want after a workout.

Comfortable Clothing

For working out in the gym and even for heading home after the shower, you want to have some clothing that will help you to feel at ease and feel comfortable. Some yoga or sweatpants can be good options, as well as athletic fit sweatshirts or a hoodie to throw on after the gym. Some flip flops could be good after a workout to help your feet breathe, especially after a shower.

Fitness Tracker

To keep you motivated when you workout, a fitness tracker is a must. It can monitor your activity levels, heart rate in some instances, calories burned, and general step count and so on. It can be motivating, as well as help you work towards something, as you may want to try and beat your score from last time, for example. So if you don’t already have one, it could be worth looking into if you find yourself needing a boost.

Protein

Whether in the form of a protein shake and shaker or a protein bar, it can be a good to have something to aid your recovery in your gym bag. What you take can be dependant on what you want to achieve. But overall, it helps to have something to munch on, as well as keep you hydrated, after the gym.

Have you got something in your gym bag that you just can’t live without? It would be great to hear what you think and what helps you.
