As most of you know, I’ve given up sugar and have lost more than 140 pounds in a little over a year. But, my family continues to eat carbs and small amounts of sugar. While I don’t mind that for them, I do like to offer them healthier choices. We’ve cut out most take-out and a ton of highly processed foods and are careful to avoid “junk” ingredients (like high fructose corn syrup) whenever possible, opting for natural or at least healthier solutions.

We also barbecue a lot in the summer. Sometimes 3-5 days a week! I’m basically a crock-pot and grill cook all summer long – I hate heating up the house with the oven! So, when I heard about Weber BBQ sauces I got really excited!

The newly reformulated line of Weber BBQ sauces offers a “sticks to my food” consistency that’s ideal for grilling, along with deliciously satisfying flavor in every bite. Plus, the reformulated sauces are made with high-quality ingredients and contain no high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors or artificial preservatives – unlike most other barbecue sauces! This was a huge score for my family – and even though I’m watching my sugar intake, I didn’t mind sampling a few bites on my own (okay, more than a few – that Applewood Brown Sugar sauce is something like out of this world)!

The Weber BBQ sauces aren’t expensive at all – in fact, they are now available on shelves in grocery stores nationwide for $3.49 each. Plus they offer something for just about everyone! The line re-introduces Weber’s four core flavors for at-home grillers, as well as an entirely new Applewood Brown Sugar variety:

  • Original – The perfect blend of natural spices and molasses deliver a sweet, thick taste
  • Honey – Sweet and slightly tangy notes combine with subtle spice and fragrant honey for a satisfying bite
  • Hickory – Natural hickory smoke melds with a blend of spices for hearty, robust flavor
  • Sweet ’N Spicy – A colorful blend of chili pepper, chipotle and molasses results in a spicy flavor boost
  • NEW Applewood Brown Sugar – Smoky Applewood combines with the sweetness of brown sugar for deliciously unique tasteimage2

As you can see, we opted to try the Smoky & Thick Applewood Brown Sugar BBQ sauce first. Chicken drumsticks happened to be 48 cents a pound at my local small grocery store. I’m not usually a fan of dark meat, or really, chicken on the bone for that matter – but with a sauce like this, it was a huge hit! Everyone enjoyed the flavor so much and it’s true that the sauce has that “sticks to my food” consistency! There’s really nothing worse than feeding all of your BBQ sauce to the bottom of the grill when it’s runny and almost watered down like some brands are. This source poured nicely and worked almost like magic!

In addition to the reformulated sauces, this summer Weber offers a variety of seasonings including a new line of rubs in Chili Lime, Honey Garlic, Sriracha and Kansas City BBQ flavors! How much yum can you pack into one meal?! I can’t wait to give those a try – especially the Chili Lime Rub which I think would be fantastic on chicken and a little more guilt free for me! Woo!
