Talking Rocks Cavern

We had so much fun exploring the cave at Talking Rocks Cavern with our new friends Desiree from The Miracle Momma and her hubby, Matt. While we were waiting for the next tour start we were treated to some mini golf. To be completely honest, we had so much fun laughing and just being carefree! Plus, I was the total mini golf champion!

The Cave Tour

Our tour guide was immediately entertaining. He was a joker, that one! He was also extremely knowledgeable about the history of the cave and the many cave tours that came before us. I really enjoyed learning about how the cave was discovered and how the cave tours evolved over the years.

Talking Rocks Cavern is on Fairy Lane. You know you are in for something cool the minute you enter that into your GPS, right? Right! In fact, the original name of the cave was, yup, Fairy Cave!

Talking Rocks Cavern is a little less commercialized than some of the other attractions in the area – which meant no waiting in long lines ad being overcrowded and for us, it was absolutely perfect!

Guided cave tours are offered at regular intervals. The visitors are led down a series of platforms and steps eventually to the floor of the cave. There are 265 steps, 150 down and 115 out. Features include ‘curtain’ and the ‘bacon’ formations. The tour also includes a light and sound show.

Make sure to wear sneakers! Poor Desi only had her flip flops so I didn’t change into my sneakers – moral support! All I can say is, wear sneakers! It’s wet and can be slippery in spots so you’ll want good traction!

Once you reach the bottom of the cave you’ll have the opportunity to have your photo taken for purchase in the gift shop. And, speaking of the gift shop – if you are interested in gems, crystals and the like, this is the perfect place to pick up a few souvenirs!
