Squirrel King Kids Craft Kits

Squirrel King kids craft kits are “Nuts for Creativity!” They are also so much fun! This craft kit is a blast from the moment you open the box! Everything you need to create three super cute squirrels is included in the kit and it all fits inside a biodegradable acorn! My little guy was almost more excited about the Acorn than he was about making the squirrels! Although he definitely loved making those too!

I love everything about this kids craft kit. The concept behind it is to encourage creativity and get kids to engage. At the same time, Squirrel King goes above and beyond. Their three-part oath is:

Creativity
We want to inspire young and old alike to be active participants. Be it building the utilitarian or crafting the artistic, we believe the act of creation is one that empowers people everywhere and, simply put, makes happy people.

Community
Community is the social fiber that binds us together and inspires us. We want to inspire the world, and so we’re committed to broadening and strengthening our community in any way and wherever we can.

Environment
Care for the world is built into our DNA. Our kids will inherit the planet from us, and we want to make sure it’s as beautiful and healthy as possible. From forests to urban landscapes and everything in between, we will be conscious of humanity’s footprint on earth, limiting our own and reducing those we come across.

And, they aren’t kidding! All of the little parts for the squirrels including the beady eyes, hands and feet are kept together in a little homemade envelope of seeded paper. Now, I’m a huge fan of seeded paper! In fact, when I got married my mom and I created all of our favors out of seeded paper. If you aren’t familiar with seeded paper, its paper that is biodegradable and actually has seeds in it. You plant the whole piece of paper and wait for the flowers to grow. It’s brilliant, really!

And, while their Kickstarter project was already successfully funded (Congrats, guys!), the video below gives you a great overview of Squirrel Kings’ concept and mission.

The description for the Squirrel Craft kits says, “Everything you need to make 3 cheeky squirrels! Comes with a deck of instruction cards that doubles as a fast-paced squirrel matching game!!! Plus, the envelope holding the squirrels’ eyes, ears and limbs can be planted to grow wild flowers!”

And for only $19.99 you are getting a great fun project for your kids and supporting a company that truly supports our Earth! Win! We really enjoyed making our squirrels. The directions are pretty straight forward though my almost 8 yr old struggled a bit. With a little help younger kids should do fine. We haven’t dressed ours up yet but, check out how cute Doctor Fluffytail is!

Squirrel King’s products inspire active participants in a world of creativity. Check out their blog to see highlights of the journey.

I truly can’t wait to see what these guys come up with next! Make sure to check them out and find them on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, too!

Here’s our kit from start to finish:

  1. That is so cute, my youngest is suddenly into squirrels. We just moved and the ones in our new location are huge compared to where we are from. This has gotten him fascinated with them so this would be a great craft for him to get in the mail.

  2. I have never heard of this craft box. I need to look into it because it is so cute. WE just did the Happy Trunk box and loved it!

  3. We have a little thing we do when we have ADHD moments in our house we say “Squirrel !!! ” its a fun way we tease one another. I think my 6 year old daughter would get a kick out of playig and making squrrels.

  4. This looks like a ton of fun for the kids and parents as well. I love the oath and it seems like they certainly take it seriously and provide what they promise.

  5. I don’t do much craft with my kids and I admit that I need to start doing a bit more. This looks like a lot of fun and they actually do look like squirrels too. 🙂

  6. My two year old would have a blast with this. So cute. Who thinks this stuff up?

  7. That’s very creative and educational! I love it when learning is fun. I’d never heard of seed paper before, that’s interesting.

  8. These are absolutely adorable – perfect for little people, and they look pretty easy to make as well. Thanks so much for linking up to the parenting pin it party this week. xx
