Hawaii's Green Sea Turtles (Science and Nature for Young Readers)

If you are looking for an excellent, educational and true-to-life book to add to your child’s Kindle collection, this is a MUST BUY at only $2.99!! If you are an Amazon Prime member, you may also borrow this book for free. The author also occasionally places the book on Free Promo’s, about twice per month, so keep an eye out! The most recent one was Feb 11th and although I didn’t get the review up on time, I will happily update when I know it’s going to be free again.

Hawaiian Science and Nature Series author, Monika Mira is a former teacher and an award-winning textbook author who has a background in the biological sciences. That background is clearly demonstrated in this book. We are looking forward to reading her other books including an upcoming Coral Reefs book (can’t wait to see the imagery in this one). The pictures in Hawaii’s Green Sea Turtles are not illustrations, they are actual photos of actual Green Sea Turtles in their natural habitats. And, just SO beautiful to look at!

Hawaii’s Green Sea Turtles is recommended for middle school children ages 9-12. This book also provides links to FREE MARINE LIFE COLORING SHEETS. Don’t box yourself in with the recommended ages. My six and 11 year olds both loved the book equally and reading it sparked conversations about traveling to Hawaii to swim with the Green Sea Turtles and a real interest in them beyond the “cool” factor. Of course, my six year old LOVES documentaries and animal films like those seen on National Geographic. He actually prefers them to cartoons and other kids’ shows!
