Renovating your home doesn’t have to be a costly job once you know what to upgrade. If you’re an enthusiastic ‘DIYer’, you’re already on your way to saving a large amount of cash, and if not – it’s certainly about time you thought about it. You may be surprised to discover that even the smallest of changes can make a dramatic difference in the home, but you just may not have unlocked its potential just yet. In this guide, we’re going to look at some of the key ways you can renovate your home on a budget. Take a look at a few ideas below:

  • Paint the walls

If it has been some time since you painted the walls, getting out the paintbrush could bring new life into the room. You can instantly give plain walls a burst of color, or on the other hand, keep it tonal with muted hues dependent on your preference. Colors can have a key impact on your mood, which is known as ‘color psychology’, so it would always be worth choosing tones that compliment the use of the room. However, a knack for painting is more than just thrashing color on the walls, so if you’re new to decorating, you may need some helpful hints.

  • Revamp the bathroom

The bathroom is one of the home’s overlooked rooms, simply because it isn’t used as much as other living spaces. If you don’t quite have the budget to renovate the entire room, there are a few minor tweaks you can make that can make to improve the overall aesthetic. Grubby fittings are never attractive, so keep dirty tiles clean or replace them with contemporary porcelain tiles. You could also remove or replace shower curtains and even hide toiletries from view to make a difference.

  • Make the most of your green spaces

If you are fortunate enough to have a front or back yard, you should try and make the most of it. Improving your green spaces not only boosts your property’s curb appeal but can also increase its value. Regardless of its size, you could choose to integrate stylish furniture for guests or even a summer house to be used as a relaxation zone. Basic garden maintenance can go a long way in making your house more desirable, even if it’s just taking care of the lawn, planting bedding flowers, or replacing the patio or decking.

  • Recover your old sofa

If you haven’t got the budget to purchase a new sofa, you could consider recovering your current one by giving it a whole new look. A typical sofa will need at least 8m of fabric. You could try and carry out a DIY upholstering project, but you can also hire professional upholstering services if you aren’t too savvy with the sewing machine.

We hope that this guide has given you some helpful pointers to take on board when it comes to upgrading your home – and the good news is that it doesn’t have to be expensive!
