Getting into shape is about more than just looking good. There are many other advantages, too. For example, you’ll be happier and be less likely to experience symptoms of depression and anxiety, and you’ll also be ensuring that your health is in tip-top condition. Or to put it in simpler terms: you’ll look and feel better, and will have the energy and state of mind needed to tackle life head-on.

Of course, not everybody takes steps to get into shape. They don’t have the time, or the money, to do so. Are these valid excuses? We’re going to say: no. You don’t need that much time, just a small amount of will to get it into your schedule. And the idea that being fit and healthy has to be expensive is patently wrong.

In this blog, we’re going to focus on the latter issue, and show you how you can stay fit and healthy even if you’re on a tight budget.

Eating Well

Food is the foundation of your health and fitness. If you can eat well, then you’ll be on your way to being your healthiest self. Indeed, many people say that your diet counts for as much as 50% of your fitness. If there’s one misconception that must be removed, it’s that eating well is expensive. It’s not! Or at least, it doesn’t have to be. There are plenty of affordable and nutritious ingredients that you can incorporate into your diet. And if you think that healthy food can’t be tasty, then think again….

Affordable Fitness

The sky’s the limit when it comes to how much you can spend on fitness. But do you have to deplete your bank account just to stay fit? Absolutely not. There are many inexpensive ways to work up a sweat. Some gyms cost the earth. Others, such as Fitness 19, are highly affordable. If you do go to a gym, make sure they have high quality equipment such as that from Gym Gear, you’ll get the most out of your session that way. You can also top up the work you do in the gym by opting for low-cost outdoor activities, such as hiking or swimming. You should also think about your general lifestyle, and see if there are any ways to incorporate more fitness into your schedule. For example, could you park a lot further away from the office, and walk the rest? Or perhaps you could cycle to work — this will get you fit and significantly cut the amount of the money you spend on your commute.

Wear What You Want

There’s a lot of high-end gym gear on the market. But it’s not as if you have to buy them. Some people think that they can only enter a gym if they’re wearing the most advanced, breathable, comfortable items of clothing. But this is not the case — you can wear what you want! Remember that no-one else in the gym cares what you’re wearing. Any old t-shirt and shorts combination will do just fine.

So the next time you reject exercise because of the costs attached, just remember the tips outlined above. You’ll be healthy, and your bank balance will be intact.
