5 Ways to Decorate Your Brick & Mortar Business

In case you don’t know, the term “brick and mortar business” refers to any public business location. Rather than dealing online or through the mail, these places serve the customer directly. Because people no longer have to do business at brick-and-mortar shops, aesthetic appeal and atmosphere are more important than ever. With that in mind, let’s look at five good ways to decorate your brick and mortar business.

Consider Some Educational/Interactive Displays

One of the best ways to get people’s attention is to use an interactive store display. This might be a “try it before you buy it” area where customers can sample or try out a particular product. Obviously, this display should focus on items that are currently being promoted. Another good type of interactive display is an education center where people can watch short videos about your products or services. If you go with that idea, we would recommend keeping each video under five minutes.

Use Plenty Of Product Displays

Apart from your demonstration/education displays, you should also set up product-specific display areas. For instance, if you are selling household items, you might create a decorative display for various kitchen items. These can be displayed in a miniature kitchen so that customers can see them in a realistic setting. This would also give you the chance to catch a customer’s eye with a deluxe kitchen display (marble countertops, brass fixtures, etc.), even if they cannot afford those high-end items.

Choose A Fitting Theme

As we said before, the creation of a certain atmosphere is very important to business decor. If people didn’t care about this, they would simply do all of their shopping online. Of course, when you start planning to decorate your business, you need to pick a theme that fits the products and services that you offer.

For instance, let’s say you sell camping equipment. Obviously, you want your store to have a naturalistic feel. This might involve the use of faux trees and plants, recordings of bird and animal noises, an artificial campfire, or anything else that makes a person feel like they are on a camping trip.

Decorative Lighting

There are a lot of interesting and creative things that can be done with lighting alone. Sometimes, these measures can be simple and subtle, like a spotlight that shines on a business logo in the center of the store. They might also be complex, like a series of running lights or some interesting projection effects.

Neon is another thing to consider here. You should know that modern neon is made with LEDs, eliminating the risks that used to come with this type of lighting. Lighted cabinet signs are also great eye-grabbers, and can be used externally or internally. In general, we would recommend the use of LED lights for most projects because they use so little electricity. These decorative projects won’t be worth your while if they result in a huge electric bill increase.

Hire An Interior Designer

Try as they might, there are some people who are just not good at decoration. That’s alright because there is an entire profession worth of people dedicated to that endeavor. If you need some more ideas, or maybe just some good advice, it might be a good idea to consult with a professional interior decorator. These people spend years in school learning about various techniques and methods.

Not only that, but interior decorators are usually able to acquire decorating supplies more cheaply and easily than you could. One reason that they can do this is because of the fact that they employ an interior design receiving warehouse. That allows them to keep large amounts of supplies on hand so that no one has to wait for items to be shipped.

As with any creative endeavor, there are literally millions of possibilities here. We cannot give you a universal guide to business decoration, because every customer base is a little bit different. The most important thing is to deliver that which your customers want and expect, so it wouldn’t hurt to do a customer survey or two.
