It is always wonderful to be able to travel, collect cultural experiences and save some dollars all at the same time. Although it may seem like a great trip to a one of a kind destination with strong cultural influence is unattainable, you’ll be glad to know that there are plenty of countries that fit the bill. Consider these five destinations the next time you’re looking for an unforgettable getaway.

1. Azerbaijan

This culture-rich country is still not on the radar, and that’s why an Azerbaijan package is worth a look. It’s not overrun by tourists, so crowds and watered down culture is not what you’ll get. As it shares a border with Russia, Georgia, Armenia, Iran, and Turkey it’s a country that truly blends the best of both East and West. You’ll find Soviet architecture and Arab cuisine. It’s got something for history buffs, nature lovers, foodies, art aficionados and every other interest, and it won’t cost you a fortune.

2. Thailand

It’s such a picturesque and culturally rich country that many tourists have at the top of their lists. With it being such a favorite with tourists, you might be thinking that it’s not such an affordable destination. Surprisingly, it can be very budget-friendly. The Southeast Asian influences run deep here and it has a lengthy historical timeline that is hard to miss. You’ll find it in the architecture, the cuisine, and the people. From Chiang Mai to Bangkok, Thailand won’t disappoint.

3. Mexico

Mexico is a large country that holds the keys to an ancient civilization and more modern Spanish touches. There are many choice locations to visit in the country, and many of them accommodate a wide range of budgets. If you’re looking for all-inclusive, Mexico’s got it. Prefer something a little more off the beaten path? You’ll find plenty. There are even excisions to ancient Aztec temples and ruins. Experience colonial architecture, amazing edible treats and the warm Gulf of Mexico or Pacific Ocean waves. Olé!

4. Brazil

Rio de Janeiro has been called one of the sexiest cities on Earth. And experiencing this culturally diverse city is more pocket-friendly than you might think, whether you’re going for Carnival or any other time of year. You’ll get a unique mix of Indigenous, African and Portuguese culture when you visit the verdant country that is Brazil.

5. Spain

Barcelona is one of the hottest tourist spots in Spain, and you’ll be surprised at just how affordable it can be to stay there. The language, the music, the sports, it’s all very complex, rich and beautiful. There are lots of things to do and see. The gothic architecture, castles, picturesque mountains and bullfighting events are just some of what you can look forward to when traveling here.

You don’t have to sell your home to afford a beautiful and culturally rich vacation abroad. Think outside the box and open your mind to the possibilities and you might be surprised where your next trip takes you.
