When it comes to Christmas, many of us like to revisit our childhoods and get excited at the prospect of visiting Christmas markets and taking part in some festive fun. Across the UK, Christmas markets are a long-standing tradition, with the markets in London attracting hundreds of tourists every year. As the capital of the UK, London has a lot to live up to when it comes to their festive celebrations, and they certainly don’t disappoint. With the Christmas markets in London already opening their doors to welcome in the festive season, we’ve put together a guide to the various stalls and attractions to visit in the UK capital this Christmas.

Southbank Centre Winter Market

The Southbank Centre Winter Market in London may be one of the smaller markets, but it’s one where you’ll find a wonderful festive atmosphere. Visitors to the market can find fire pits where they’re able to stay warm and a tasty selection of foods and drinks available at the stalls. Along with that, chalets where you can buy small gifts, trinkets and more are dotted around, making it the perfect festive outing for a family, couple, or group of friends. The location is also stunning in the festive season, with visitors being able to enjoy the view of London from Waterloo Bridge from the market and the areas close by.

London Bridge City Market

If you’re hoping for a vibrant experience at a traditional German market that’s buzzing with people, the London Bridge City Market is probably going to be your perfect option. Located close to the hugely popular Tower Bridge, these markets are a prime hotspot for tourists and have a cute, cozy atmosphere thanks to the abundance of Christmassy fairy lights. These markets are in a prime location and close to public transport links and a number of London Underground stations, meaning that they’re one of the easiest ones to get to whether you’re coming from within the city or outside. They’re open from around 11am in the morning until 7-8pm. For more information about parking in Central London, see www.yourparkingspace.co.uk.

Winter Wonderland

Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park is more of a theme park than a cute Christmas market, but it’s a very fun event all the same and is a huge hit with families. Get in the Christmas spirit in the Bavarian Village, and have fun on the various family-friendly fairground rides and the festive ice rink. Open daily over the Christmas period and into the New Year, the Winter Wonderland runs until the 2nd January 2017 and is open from 10am-11pm.

Oxford Street

Anybody who loves shopping in London will have been to Oxford Street, and this busy shopping street really cannot be missed during the winter thanks to the abundance of Christmas lights. From around 9pm onwards during the week, it’s usually the best time to visit Oxford Street if you’re in the mood for getting in the festive spirit. Although there are no Christmas market stalls, it’s still a great place for a spot of gift shopping!
