Serving Up a Snackation

This week, like most weeks really, I made Walmart my SNACKATION destination. As it goes during the summer, I hear “can I have a snack” more than “I love you” on most days. Whether we’re home for the day and enjoying the pool or off on a family road trip, at camp or headed to the beach, I’ve somehow been charged with all of the “Snack Goddess” duties – lucky for me, this doesn’t mean I have to spend my whole summer in the kitchen.

I’ve found some pretty quick and easy snacks especially helpful for on the go like Jif To Go Dippers – pack some pretzels and celery sticks and the kids have a ready made snack that they can access even while I’m driving down the road. Even easier? I like to throw a box of Smucker’s Uncrustables into the cooler – they make the perfect quick and easy snack and I really love that they now offer a Reduced Sugar version on whole wheat bread. Snacking healthy my friends!

Smucker’s and Jif both offer some great and convenient snack foods that my kids love. I love that they aren’t expensive, are simple to prepare and that they aren’t loaded with junk. Whenever I stop in to Walmart to plan for a #Snackation I know I can trust those brands to keep the smiles in check. If you’re looking for ideas, check out some of my favorites –

  • Smucker’s Fruit Fulls
  • Jif To Go Dippers
  • Uncrustables
  • Jif Whips (New!)
  • Jif Chocolate Flavored Hazelnut Spread
  • Smucker’s Squeeze Grape
  • Smucker’s Strawberry Jam

Shaping Smiles With Snacks

So, while I really enjoy convenience foods for quick snacking options, I also like scoring a few “cool mom” points along the way. One of the easiest, fastest ways to dress up simple snacks? Cookie cutters! Funny how a little shaping turns me into “the best mom ever” and my littles suddenly can’t imagine how I got so darn creative! Yes, cookie cutters – magical little creations, aren’t they? And, if you’re kid just can’t stand the bread crust? You’ve become their savior!

If you want your kids to envision you staying up into the wee hours of the night making them the cutest little surprise shaped snacks, couple cookie cutters with a rolling pin and, here’s my “big” secret – roll your bread slices out flat before spreading with PB&J – then you can make roll-ups, and/or cut them into cute, fun little kid-pleasing shapes. These ideas aren’t just fun for a #Snackation, but also a truly sweet and fun way to liven up the lunch box once summer makes it’s exit and school’s back in session. (Does that really have to happen so fast?!)

Come back in a few days to see what magic I’ve done with my cookie cutters, and to hear all about our little upcoming daycation, complete with the #snackation goodies above! In the meantime, get a few more great tips for your own Snackation here.
