First Birthday Smash Cakes

Back when my kids were babies cupcakes for baby’s first birthday were the norm. I so wish I had thought of something like these first birthday smash cakes! How fun, and cute are these?! Either way, the end results is the same- a horrible mess that you don’t mind cleaning up! Baby’s first birthday’s are such a huge cause for celebration!!

My oldest’s first birthday cake was a 3D Winnie the Pooh bear on top of a half sheet cake. It was huge, homeamde by a talented from-home cake decorator and delicious! My daughter’s theme was flowers and bugs and her cake was beautiful! She also had on a beautiful first birthday pink princess dress… I’m working on digging up some pictures with my Mom since I don’t think I have any since the fire. I’ll update when she scans and emails them!

Here are Betty Crocker’s favorite first birthday smash cake recipes, perfectly-sized for baby to dig right in!

  1. My daughter is turning 4 soon, so she is more refined when it comes to her cake eating, but the smash cake idea is awesome!

I love all the little infographics you post! The toppings ideas are great-though I think I’d stray away from the peas and carrots, lol.
